Chippenham Borough Lands Charity
"Our past helping your future"
About Us

This ancient Charity was set up to aid people who live within the Parish of Chippenham.  The Charity is able to assist the aged, sick, disabled or poor inhabitants of Chippenham.  The Trustees welcome applications from individuals who fall within this remit and who have lived in the Parish for two years immediately prior to the application.

The Charity is also able to help groups or organisations involved with education, social welfare, health, arts, music or young people, if it is for the benefit of the inhabitants of Chippenham.

The endowment fund of the main Charity comes from the proceeds of the restitution from the North Wiltshire District Council, the proceeds from subsequent land sales, the remaining landholding and the capital gains achieved on the investment of the fund.  The CBLC also administers The Jubilee Charity, which was established in 1993, following CBLC's purchase of the Jubilee Building from NWDC in 1993. It had an initial endowment of £57,500.

These endowment funds cannot be spent.  The income from the endowment fund of the main charity is unrestricted, and it is this income which is used to fund CBLC's activities.

At 31/03/06 the total funds under management had an accounting value of £12,398,750.

Charitable awards totalling £261,256 were made during 05/06.

A copy of CBLC's Annual Report & Accounts can be obtained from the office on request, priced £1.
