Are you looking for a role where you will make a significant impact in your local community?
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly team here at Chippenham Borough Lands Charity. We are looking for a Grants Officer to help us deliver our work. Our investments generate an annual income of around £500,000 and as Grants Officer, you will have responsibility for assessing applications to ensure that these funds reach those people who most need our support.
You will primarily focus on assessing welfare applications, plus you will work alongside our existing Grants Officer on small grants for local organisations, covering the arts, education and leisure sectors. Using your superb communication skills, empathy and non-judgemental approach, combined with an up-to-date knowledge of the benefits system, you will provide support and guidance to grant applicants, directing them to relevant sources of support and assessing their eligibility. You will put together reports outlining key information and recommendations for each application, as well as monitoring the effectiveness of our interventions.
Using your IT skills, you will maintain databases of grants awarded and mobility aids and other equipment loaned to individuals. As part of a small team, you will also be expected to contribute to the wider work of the charity, from covering reception duties and welcoming visitors, to helping to promote our work in the local area. You will be able to get along well with people from all backgrounds and have a positive approach to diversity and inclusion.
You will have previous experience giving advice and support to others, whether this be within another charity, benefits related work, housing association or similar role. An NVQ in Information, Advice and Guidance is desirable but not essential.
