After nearly three decades of proudly serving the community, the Pewsham Community Centre Association (PCCA) made the extremely difficult decision to close operations in February. Since 1997, volunteers from PCCA have managed all daily activities of the Pewsham Community Centre.
As owners of the Centre’s building, Chippenham Borough Lands Charity (CBLC) has now resumed full managerial responsibilities. This includes handling all bookings, maintenance, and daily operations.
We extend our huge thanks to the dedicated PCCA volunteers who poured their time and hearts into making the Centre a welcoming space for nearly 30 years. We are grateful to everyone who helped create its wonderful legacy of serving local residents. Their commitment to serving the Pewsham community has been outstanding.
Phil Baskerville, a former PCCA trustee, reflected on the transition: “This was an extremely tough decision, but we felt handing over to CBLC would ultimately strengthen the Centre’s longevity as an invaluable local resource.”
Under PCCA’s stewardship, Pewsham Community Centre hosted a vibrant array of groups, classes, and events from the Chippenham Flower Club and Lockside WI meetings to Fight Klub Chippenham sessions, 1st Pewsham Brownies gatherings, and countless birthday celebrations.
Our top priority since taking over in March has been ensuring minimal disruption so these vital community activities could continue uninterrupted. We are pleased to share that we are back to taking one-off bookings again. We are grateful to have the ongoing support of a brilliant team of local volunteers who live near the centre to help facilitate these bookings. Pewsham Community Centre will remain a fantastic meeting place for the local community fostering connection, learning, and celebration.
