Dorothy House

£34,000 awarded towards the pilot expansion of their ‘Hospice at Home’ service and to support an increase in Dorothy House Nurse Specialist home visits to patients and families in the Parish of Chippenham.

Dorothy House has been investing in the expansion of its Hospice at Home service to meet the rising demand for palliative and end of life care in their 700 square mile region across Wiltshire, Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset. Annually, there are around 3,700 people in this area living with a life-limiting illness who could benefit from hospice care. To help meet this growing need Dorothy House has also invested in the recruitment of additional Hospice at Home carers and nurses to support the expansion and development of available care service. These palliative care experts serve as a first point of contact for families to the hospice and provide end of life and palliative care for patients, their families and carers as well as advice, support and referral to other hospice services.

“We are all extremely grateful to Chippenham Borough Lands Charity for their on-going support of the hospice over the years. The funds will help us provide more patients in the Chippenham area with greater choice over their place of care and death and with it, better life quality in their final days.” – Hannah Rudd
